The game online Pokemon Go presents a new feature called Showcase which is held at certain events. Showcases are contests held at PokeStops during certain events with the condition that trainers will leave Pokemon at the PokeStop to take part in timed contests to win attractive prizes. Each Showcase displays a specific Pokemon type and requirements for judging.
Each Showcase selects 1 Pokemon who will become an idol in the contest with certain criteria. Each Pokemon has points as a condition for competing against other Pokemon trainers. You can see on the leaderboard the position of which Pokemon is at the top with the highest number of points and will be the candidate for 1st place in the Showcase.
There is some information displayed in the Showcase menu for trainers to know, as follows:
- Species Icon – Displays the name and image of the type of Pokemon that will compete in the Showcase.
- Size Icon – Shows the criteria for the Pokemon that will be judged regarding the weight and number of points of the Pokemon that will compete.
- Showcase Time – Displays the time the Showcase will end.
The Showcase symbol will appear on the Pokemon GO map 1 hour before the Showcase starts.
Entering a PokeStop Holding a Showcase
Pokestop hosting has a unique icon above the Pokestop. Before entering a Pokemon, the Showcase icon is blue. After a Pokemon is placed in the Pokestop Showcase, the icon will change color to purple. For Showcases on Pokestops that are not within the trainer’s interaction circle, the Showcase symbol is a solid oval with a blue/purple color. The showcase will of course take place at the same Pokestop throughout the season.
Trainers can join the Showcase Pokemon Go event in the following 2 ways:
- For Showcase Pokestops that are within range of trainers, you can click the “Showcase” symbol and the Pokemon will be selected automatically with the highest points if there are the same type of Pokemon in various HP / CP.
- Catch the respective Pokémon species while displaying PokéStops with Showcases on the map. In this case, the “ENTER NEARBY POKÉSTOP SHOWCASE” button will be displayed on the Pokémon summary after catching it.
In general, the Pokemon with the highest points becomes a participant in the Showcase for a chance to win. Taking part in a Showcase event is not the same as placing Pokemon in a Gym. Because Showcase allows 1 type of Pokemon that has been designated as an idol with accompanying criteria. Trainers cannot enter Pokemon with different types than the conditions that have been set.
Each Showcase has a capacity for 200 trainers to take part in the ongoing event. There is a provision that each trainer can only take part in 3 Showcases at one time. In addition, Pokemon who win the Showcase in first place cannot participate in other Showcases within the time limit determined by the Pokemon Go Game system.
Participation Results and Reward Prizes
When the Showcase event is over, all participating trainers will receive Stardust and XP. The three trainers in the top positions also received bundle items. Showcase Star medals unlock and level up to take first place in 1, 10, 50, and 100 Bronze contests, Silver contests, Gold contests, Platinum contests. When the Showcase event ends, the Showcase symbol above the Pokestop will turn orange. Trainers who take part in the Showcase event can claim prizes via the “Claim Rewards” button.
